Induction chemotherapy is the first line treatment of cancer with a chemotherapeutic drug. This type of chemotherapy is used for curative intent. Combined modality chemotherapy is the use of drugs with other cancer treatments, such as surgery, radiation therapy, and/or hyperthermia therapy. BTCP is known as a "flare" of pain, and can be severe. Chemotherapy or radiation induced pain - is most often a form of nerve pain. It can cause peripheral neuropathy (painful numbness of the extremities), or paraesthesia (numbness and tingling of hands, feet or any extremity of the body).
